Halie and Austin’s Swanner House wedding in San Juan Capistrano was playful, whimsical, and such a fun take on a spring wedding. I had the opportunity to associate shoot this day for Wesley Yen, and it gave me such a good feel for how this venue flows. It was an easy addition to my ‘Stunning Southern California Wedding Venues You’ve Probably Never Heard Of‘ blog for a reason!
Halie and Austin’s color palette was bold and fresh instead of the typical muted tones. It felt perfect against the citrus groves and lush greenery. From the golden hour portraits to the most fun moments with their people, this day felt thoughtful and full of energy from start to finish.
The Swanner House is one of those venues that truly gives you space to make your day your own. These two did exactly that. If you’re dreaming of a wedding that feels intimate but still has personality and room for incredible photos, you’re going to want to keep scrolling!

Getting Ready For a Swanner House Wedding in San Juan Capistrano
One of my favorite parts of this Swanner House wedding was how intentional and relaxed the getting ready portion of the day felt. Hailie and Austin spent the morning separately with their people. Hailie’s dress felt classic with a soft, romantic shape, and paired so well with her bridesmaids in deep green tones. Austin and his groomsmen kept things timeless but fun, and the whole morning felt full of personality.
The Swanner House makes this part of the day so easy. The bridal suite setup is genuinely one of the best I’ve seen. There’s a private space for the bride, plus a separate getting ready room with large mirrors, multiple vanity stations, and plenty of seating so everyone be comfortable. There’s even a dedicated beverage station stocked with whatever you choose, which is such a fun touch while getting ready.
The guys have their own space too, including a first-floor grooms room with wood and leather details and a built-in whiskey bar. There’s also a billiards room and a den with rich paneling, pheasant wallpaper, and even a chess setup. It all photographed beautifully while still feeling relaxed and lived-in.

Outdoor Swanner House Wedding Ceremony On The Lawn
The Ceremony Lawn at The Swanner House is open and completely surrounded by nature. It’s set just behind the cottage, and the lawn stretches out with views of rolling hills and a beautiful old oak tree. It’s simple in the best way, letting everything else stand out.
One of my favorite parts of Hailie and Austin’s Swanner House wedding ceremony was how they passed their ring box through their guests. It gave everyone a chance to hold it and share their good wishes and intentions. It made the whole moment feel really connected and personal.

Golden Hour Wedding Party & Newlywed Photos
One of the best parts about a Swanner House wedding in San Juan Capistrano is just how many gorgeous spots you have for portraits without feeling limited. The property itself is so thoughtfully designed, from the citrus groves and wide open lawns to the manicured gardens and little corners that feel tucked away.
Hailie and Austin’s wedding party photos had so much personality, along with some really fun shots with the groom and bridesmaids that brought so much energy into the gallery. We also mixed in some creative photos like subtle motion blur shots with the bride and those dreamy under-the-veil portraits.
Their newlywed photos felt just as natural, especially as we moved into that golden light across the lawn. Even inside, the restored farmhouse adds so much character with original details, giving you a completely different look without ever leaving the venue. It’s the kind of place that gives you variety while still feeling cohesive from start to finish.

A Swanner House Wedding Reception
The reception space at The Swanner House feels just as good as it looks. Long wooden tables were set under a canopy of twinkling string lights. They overlooked the citrus groves and rolling hills surrounding the property. The florals by Shannon at Cargo Creative truly tied everything together so beautifully, with soft yellows, greens, and organic textures.
It all felt elevated but still relaxed, especially as guests settled in for dinner and speeches under the open sky. As the night went on, the checkered dance floor filled up fast and stayed that way! You could tell that everyone was having such a good time. Even the smallest details, like their simple (and very cute) cake, felt intentional. It was the kind of Swanner House wedding reception that let the setting shine while still feeling personal and genuinely fun!
